Well, we’re only a few weeks into 2010 and yet already we’ve got plenty of exciting updates to fill the year’s first newsletter. We’ve got great additions to the team, fantastic deals on both skiing and wake-boarding, and Xtreme-Gene is on the move! Yes, that’s right Xtreme Gene is opening this year in a brand new location…
After years of dry winters and declining water levels this winter has proved a little different for us all. Whilst many of you have been enjoying a White Christmas, here in Cordoba we’ve been having a rather soggy one! The lake has risen by a staggering 30 plus meters catching all of us here in Sunny Spain by surprise and resulting in us bringing forward our planned move for the Ski School to this year.
As many of you may know we’ve been working on plans for our new site for some time now. The completion of the new Dam means that we will be moving to a stunning new location further up the lake and work is about to begin on the wonderful new facilities. The new location will have incredible views, endless wakeboard runs and secluded slalom courses, as well as a great new bar, terrace and cabins all within easy access of town. Pictures and updates will follow throughout the year and we hope that later on in 2010 the site will be welcoming it’s first visitors.
In the meantime we are moving Xtreme Gene just across the banks from it’s current slightly waterlogged location to a temporary site which offers great all round facilities, fantastic accommodation and the same first rate skiing and wakeboarding experience. Those of you joining us from March onwards can expect 8 newly built accommodation cabins which have en suite bathrooms plus small kitchen and dining areas, a bar/restaurant (see pictures below), sunbathing area, tennis courts and kids park. The dock will have further facilities and a new sunbathing deck meaning we can offer something for everyone from watersports enthusiasts to non skiing sun-lovers.
The even better news for all of you though is that these wonderful new sites won’t bring with them an expensive new tariff… In keeping with the recent festive spirit Xtreme Gene is keeping prices for 2010 the same as 2009 and we’ll be offering some great recession-busting packages and last minute deals throughout the year. Keep your eyes on our website for all up-to-date offers and remember to get your bookings in early particularly for the school holiday period where weeks are already filling up fast.
2010 is not just bringing us new locations though; it’s also seen the addition of some great new talent to the Xtreme Gene team. David Cotes a young, exciting Wakeboard Pro from Ireland will be joining us this season. His achievements are numerous and no doubt some of you will have already seen him taking the podium everywhere from Wakestock, The Irish Nationals and British Student Nationals to the EAMEs in France. David will be a popular addition to the team working along side Xtreme Gene favourites Andres Alijo and Jamie Motais Oliver.
And our much-loved ski coaching team has a new face too. As many of you already know, George Mayling has joined us to work alongside our first class ski coaches Matt Southam and Greg Perry. So, please join us in offering a huge Xtreme Gene welcome to both David and George.
Yes, in summary this should be a great year here at Xtreme Gene, new faces, new boats, new sites and no doubt lots of sunshine! As always
