The best thing about this exercise is that it allows you to work on different aspects of your slalom without the confines of the slalom course. The time we spend learning new speeds or shorter line lengths can be greatly reduced just by getting used to sking at these new passes.
Getting Started
Once the boat is up to speed, move 4m - 5m outside the wake, there is no need to go wider than this as we are not trying to run a course we are only trying to build some rythm for these new passes. From your start position outside the wake make sure you have a good body position over the ski, and make your first turn (the most angle you should be trying to obtain is 45deg across the boat wakes). So now you're heading towards the wake, all you need to do is hold on and let the boat pull you across in the same good position you stared with - do not lean harder and harder as this will only unbalance you through the wake.
When you reach the middle of the wake; start your edge change and move into your pre turn position as you start to arc out and up along side the boat, remember to try to stay balanced on your ski. If you have done this correctly you should find yourself at the same width that you started your first turn. then just keep going from there.
